Those who have used the kitchen in the past few weeks have found it quite frustrating. It has seemed to lack organization and cleanliness. When I walked into the building this morning I found Nanci Hamicksburg and Miriam Wallick working to rectify many of the problems about which many had been complaining. They worked for many long hours today cleaning up, organizing, and trying to make the "kitchen experience" more pleasant for others. I thank them for their contribution to making things run smoother in that arena. Nava Halpern is coming in this evening to learn more about the kitchen, but it seems to me that if we are really going to conquer this area, we must have several individuals who would be willing to do small jobs to help it run more efficiently. I have some ideas about this, but they will have to wait for later.

Anyone know what's up with the lock on the cupboard? I understood that food purchased by Julie Harper for use in Shabbat lunches was disappearing and that's why the lock appeared. However, one of the drawers is full of baking supplies (flour, sugar, sprinkles etc) that are for common use. The Hebrew Highers needed items from that drawer, and I couldn't get into it. At the least, there needs to be a couple copies of the key to the lock or a separate place to lock up food items that doesn't impinge on other's people's use of the assets of our kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI can see having a lock on the liquor cabinet to keep kids away from it...but not on the sugar cabinet!
