For those who were present at the T.I. Hanukkah Hop, it was a wonderful example of how enjoyable an afternoon can be when we spend it together. There were so many individuals who worked to ensure that the setting was festive, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was pleasant. We might have a small congregation, but it is no small matter when 106 individuals join together for lunch. It signals that we still can put together a program that appeals to a wide variety of ages and have congregants leaving for home with words of praise on their lips.
Originally I was asked why we would take our one program, our Chanukah latke party, and change its format if it had worked for so long. Change is scary. It does not always work. However, the change we just experienced on Chanukah was successful because it was well-planned. I hope to enjoy many more programs at shul where many individuals contribute time and energy working together.
This was my third year in a row cooking latkes at the synagogue. It's becoming a nice tradition. What was the big change this year? Adding chicken? I hope the karaoke wasn't controversial, because I really enjoyed it. Dan Friedman's rendition of "Goldfinger" is indelibly etched on my brain. The horror :)
ReplyDeletethe karaoke was a terrific addition to the festivities! my girls had a great time!
