I have been attending the Pardes Executive Learning Seminar for six years now and one would think I might tire of it or find it at least less exciting than the first time I showed up at the doorstep of the Pardes Institute. That is truly not the case. With the changing topics each year, the opportunity to see old friends and meet new ones, the multifaceted approaches presented by the various teachers helping us attack/dissect Torah text material....it would be hard to be anything less than enthusiastic about this program. There are times I say to myself that I could actually see myself living close by so I could maintain the same level of learning over extended periods of time. It is a dream....but for now, I must say that I'm thankful that my son pointed me toward participation in this program!
I wish I could get one or two others from Lincoln to join me next year. You might be aware that Jerusalem as a united city is a phenomena that occured as a result of the 6 day war in 1967. There will be a 50th anniversary celebration of that miracle next summer in Jerusalem. Quite appropriately, the topic for next year's study session will be "The Return to Zion." It will deal with the meaning of Israel to Jews throughout history as well as what it means to live in the "diaspora" and Jewish relations world-wide. If you're interested in learning more about this incredible learning opportunity let me know. I can help you begin planning to attend.
