B efore you started on the path of learning how to chant
the prayers
A nd the haftorah and Torah reading which are part of
your davening tonight and tomorrow
T here were individuals in your family, Nina, who were
intimately connected to the vision of
M aking sure that Jewish life in Lincoln, Nebraska remains
meaningful.
I ndeed each individual in your family who has had a
connection to
T ifereth Israel and our Jewish community has been a
Z ealous supporter of maintaining Judaism in the
heartland of
A merica. Each
did it in his or her own way, always
H aving the sense that whatever he or she contributed did
indeed matter.
O bviously it is your
F amily’s desire to see you continue to carry on the
customs and traditions of Judaism.
N ot every child is blessed with a family that cares
that they
I nvolve themselves in Jewish learning and experiences.
N ot every family is blessed with a bright and capable
child who is willing to learn.
A ncient wisdom teaches us that parents and child should
be grateful for such blessings.
F inally this sacred moment has arrived when your
friends and
R elatives are with you and
I honestly believe that the power of their love and
support on this Shabbat will forever be
E ngraved upon your mind and your heart.
D elve deep within yourself, Nina, and feel the
invisible string that connects you to the
M any generations of men and women in your family both past
and present
A nd realize that you are part of a chain that we hope
will
N ever be broken.
