Sharing Ideas with St. E's Hospital

Some of you know that I had an opportunity to address the Diversity Representatives of St. Elizabeth Hospital last week.  It was a very positive experience and personally I was delighted to receive the invitation to speak to the group.  I spoke about Jewish theological concepts (inclulding pikuach nefesh/saving a life), beginning of life issues for Jews (including when life begins, brit milah, naming ceremonies), end of life issues for Jews (including palliative care, tahara, burial customs), dietary laws, halacha related to transplantation, amputation, and much more.  It was a productive session with many questions asked.  It was a positive sharing of ideas and hopefully one which will make it easier for Jewish families who choose to receive care from that hospital.
