I just read a quote by Dr. Albert Schweitzer, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1952. It said, "One thing I know; the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve."
As we wish each other a "Happy New Year/2011" may we focus on this meaning of happiness. May we recognize the needs of this world and work together as a Jewish community to alleviate the suffering we see. May we also recognize that we have the opportunity to live a life of meaning by adding mitzvot to our lives and by living a life of integrity, compassion, and good deeds. May we rally together to show our concern for the fate of Israel and for the Jewish community in which we live. May we all be able to enter this new year (secular) with the goal of seeking and serving!
