When you think about larger Jewish communities, you might think that they have it so much better than our "little shul on the prairie." They have professionals to fill all sorts of roles. They have full-time caterers, custodial help, program directors, etc. What they might not have is the sense of how wonderful it is to "do it yourself" if it is going to get done!
Pesach was an incredible example of individuals in our shul coming together to help "do it themselves" within small group settings. We had individuals who volunteered to spend a full morning kashering the shul kitchen. There were individuals who spent many long hours cooking our delicious seder foods. There were individuals who helped serve the meals, cleared the tables, disassembled the social hall after the seders were done, and helped set up our "lock box escape from Egypt" activity. The amount of volunteer help was incredible and it showed in how well organized and enjoyable our sedarim were.
Thank you to all who participated by helping out! We couldn't have done it without you.
